The Northstars Band Parents organization was established to support and promote the instrumental music co-curricular programs of the Junior and Senior high bands and its auxiliary units, as an integral part of the education of young people, and to embrace a philosophy of commitment, discipline, unselfishness, pride, and dignity.

Northstars Band Parents, Inc.

The Northstars Band Parents, Inc. is an incorporated not-for-profit, tax exempt organization.

PURPOSE:

To support and promote the instrumental music co-curricular programs of the Junior and Senior high school bands and its auxiliary units, as an integral part of the education of young people. To embrace a philosophy of commitment, discipline, unselfishness, pride and dignity.

MEMBERSHIP:

There are three types of membership:

  1. Parent or Guardian (full voting rights)
  2. Associate Member, all Alumni & Alumni Parents (no voting rights)
  3. Honorary Member, all Past Board of Directors (no voting rights)

All parents or guardians of any member of the Northstars Marching Band are automatically a member of the Northstars Band Parents, Inc.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

Consists of people elected from the voting membership plus three permanent members: House 1 Principal, the Marching Band Director, and the Director of Fine Arts.

CONSTITUTION:

The Northstars Band Parents, Inc. has a constitution and by-laws. These are available from the Band Director or the President of the Northstars Band Parents, Inc.

PARENT MEETINGS:

There must be at least two meetings per year. The Annual Meeting is in February. It primarily deals with election of officers and required reports from the Band Director and the treasurer. The second is in July to report on the band and the band trip, as well as establish Chairpersons for the many committees.
